1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on the user's device (computer, tablet or mobile phone) when they visit it. Their purpose is to remember information about the visit, such as language preference, session status or other preferences, in order to improve the user experience.
In addition to cookies strictly speaking, there are other similar technologies such as the browser's local storage (localStorage). KeokVerse uses localStorage to store the user's authentication token (JWT). This storage does not leave your device and is not accessible by third parties.
The applicable regulations in Spain are Article 22.2 of Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE) and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), as well as the AEPD Cookie Guide (2023).
2. Types of cookies
Cookies can be classified according to their purpose:
- Technical or strictly necessary: essential for the website to function. They do not require user consent.
- Analytics: allow the measurement and analysis of user behaviour on the website. They require prior consent.
- Advertising or marketing: allow personalised advertising to be shown based on the user's profile. They require prior consent.
- Preference or functional: remember the user's choices (language, region, etc.). They may require consent depending on their implementation.
By duration, cookies can be session cookies (deleted when the browser is closed) or persistent (remaining on the device for a set period).
By origin, they can be first-party (generated by the website visited) or third-party (generated by external services integrated into the site).
3. Cookies used in KeokVerse
3.1 Own local storage (not cookies)
KeokVerse uses the browser's localStorage to store:

This local storage is technically necessary for the correct operation of the service and does not require prior consent, as it does not involve tracking or transfer of data to third parties.
3.2 Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4
KeokVerse uses Google Analytics 4 to obtain statistical information about website usage (pages visited, time on site, traffic source, etc.). These cookies are only activated with your prior consent.

3.3 Advertising cookies — Google Ads
KeokVerse uses Google Ads to display relevant ads and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. These cookies are only activated with your prior consent.

3.4 Embedded video cookies — YouTube
Some KeokVerse news and articles include embedded YouTube videos. When one of these videos is loaded or played, YouTube (Google LLC) may install cookies on your device to remember your playback preferences and show relevant content or advertising. These cookies are only activated when you interact with the video and require your consent.

4. Consent and cookie management
When you first access KeokVerse, a cookie consent banner is displayed where you can accept or reject non-technical cookies (analytics and advertising). You can change your preferences at any time.
Note that rejecting analytics and advertising cookies does not affect the main functionality of KeokVerse, but may reduce the personalisation of the experience and the relevance of the ads shown.
If you wish to revoke your consent or change your cookie preferences at any time, you can do so:
- Via the 'Manage cookies' link available in the site footer.
- By deleting cookies directly from your browser (see next section).
